  • Understand how to train a parrot to accept medication from a syringe using positive reinforcement techniques, while minimizing stress and discomfort.
  • Learn how to prepare medication for administration, including measuring the correct dosage and properly mixing the medication with water or food.
  • Learn how to read parrot body language to recognize when they are becoming agitated or uncomfortable during medication administration.
  • Understand how to generalize the target training behaviour to different contexts such as taking medicine.

Over 10 years experience working in veterinary medicine and 14 years experience working with birds. Currently Rebecca runs her own training service called Around the Flock and is working alongside DACVB resident Dr. Meghan Connolly to provide the best chance of success when treating behaviour disorders.

Rebecca's flock consists of Hodari (African Grey), Chino (Pionus) and Artemis (Cockatiel).
